Bill Roberts was born in Te Kopuru, educated at Whangarei Boys High School. Upon completion of his accountancy qualifications in 1971 he spent two years on assignment with Volunteer Service Abroad in the Pacific Islands. He was Chairman of Directors, Mercy Hospital Northland Ltd for nine years and a charter member and past president of Whangarei South Rotary Club, and is currently a BoT member of Pompallier College. 

Bill enjoys family times at the beach, fishing and scuba diving.
